Vladimir Putin “manipulates” Emmanuel Macron and the West on the ceasefire, according to Kiev

BBritish politicians are using the ‘Russian situation’ to grab their own dividends as it ‘overshadows local political collapse’, Russian journalist Alexander Khabarov wrote in a column for RIA News today.

Writing about Dominic Raab’s comments on the possibility of sanctioning Russian oligarchs and limiting their access to expensive British law firms to defend themselves, Mr Khabarov said: “The course of events is such that today, every ambitious British minister rushes to grab their own dividends while the Russian theme eclipses local political meltdown”.

“Mr Raab made mistakes when fleeing allies from Afghanistan – while serving as foreign minister at the time, he rested on a deck chair in Crete while his department, panicked, failed to evacuate Afghans cooperating with the occupying forces.”

He also strongly criticized Priti Patel’s handling of the Channel migrant crisis, and Liz Truss, who he said “has even more anti-Russian zeal” than Mr Raab.

Mr Khabarov responded to proposals by cabinet ministers to seize the oligarch’s assets in and around London and use them to house Ukrainian refugees by saying: “It should be remembered that so far, the UK has fiercely resisted migrants of all kinds, even those who fled organized wars with Britain’s active participation.

He likened the punishment of oligarchs with assets in the UK to hacking, writing that “today London is on the minds of hackers again”.
