Ukraine spared from one-year extension of anti-dumping duties

Anti-dumping duties imposed on steel imports from Brazil, China, South Korea, India, Indonesia and Ukraine will continue for another five years, the Customs Administration said on Wednesday.

The duties would cover certain flat-rolled steel products from China and South Korea, as well as carbon steel plate from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, South Korea and other countries. Ukraine, the agency said in a statement.

However, duties on carbon steel plate from Ukraine would be suspended for a year, in line with measures adopted by many other democracies following the invasion of the Eastern European country by Russia, he said.

The decision to extend the duties was taken after an investigation by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Affairs concluded that dumping could occur and harm local manufacturers if the duties were lifted, the official said. ‘agency.

Taiwan first imposed the duties, ranging from 5.8% to 80.5%, in August 2016, which were due to be reviewed in August last year.

Only China’s Fujian Kaijing Green Tech Material Co (福建凱景新型科技材料), which was set up by Taiwan’s Kaijing Group (凱景集團), is exempt from such duties, the agency said.

Local manufacturers looking to import products from countries on the anti-dumping list must apply for favorable tax rates, otherwise they would face tariffs, he said.
