According to reports by Pusan, South Korea, by reporters at NewsRx, the research said, “In this article, we use a logit model to predict the likelihood of Korean shipping companies defaulting.”

Our reporters got a research citation from Korea Maritime Institute: “We explore many financial ratios to find predictors of the failure of a shipping company and build four default prediction models. The results suggest that a model with industry-specific metrics outperforms other models in terms of predictive ability. This finding indicates that using information about the unique financial characteristics of the shipping industry can improve the performance of default prediction models. “
According to the editors, the study concluded: “Given the importance of the shipping industry to the Korean economy, this study can benefit both policy makers and market players.
