Ruling party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung unveiled his vision for job growth on Tuesday, pledging to create more than 3 million jobs by raising a $135 trillion investment fund. won ($113.5 billion).

“I will create over 3 million jobs by delivering big transformations in the digital, energy and social services sectors,” Lee said at a campaign event laying out his vision for the growth of the job at the Democratic Party (DP) headquarters in Seoul.

In order to achieve the proposed digital transformation, the DP candidate said he would seek to establish the 135 trillion won investment fund comprised of state, local and private resources.

Lee also pledged to use energy transformation efforts to create jobs in new emerging sectors and also pledged to expand jobs in public health fields through the transformation of the social services sector.

He also said that his policy target on job creation for young people was to improve the employment rate of young job seekers by 5 percentage points during his tenure.

In addition, Lee pledged to restructure the Ministry of Finance to strengthen its responsibilities in planning and coordinating employment growth policies.

Lee also laid out a vision to nurture 3,000 innovative companies and 100 unicorn companies, which refers to unlisted startups with a valuation of more than 1 trillion won, during his tenure. (Yonhap)
