TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Institute for Economic and Financial Development (INDEF) researcher Nailul Huda observed that the collaboration between Gojek and AirAsia Group would have positive impacts on the growth of super apps in the Thailand and Southeast Asian markets.
According to him, business sectors such as online transportation, logistics and e-commerce services developed by each company would continue to grow.
“The collaboration with AirAsia will strengthen Gojek’s activities to expand its presence not only in Thailand but in other ASEAN countries,” Nailul said in a written statement on Tuesday (July 13th).
As has been widely reported, AirAsia Digital has taken over Gojek’s operations in Thailand. In this way, the Indonesian on-demand and payment service would continue to benefit from the growth of its business in Thailand through the participation in AirAsia Group, while focusing on increasing investments in its operations in Singapore and Vietnam. .
This latest collaboration, Nailul argued, would be a strategic way for Gojek to face stiff competition in the online transportation and food delivery industry, especially with Grab. With this stronger competitiveness, Gojek’s business would strengthen in Southeast Asian markets, he added.
Nailul went on to say that GojekThe decision to increase its investments in Singapore and Vietnam would also have had huge impacts, especially on its valuation in line with the growth of the market in Southeast Asia.
